Glass Blocks for Christmas Home Decor
Ahhh.... I have to say that I have found my NEW FAVORITE thing to decorate with!!!
It's Glass Blocks!!!!
Now .... I could only find these up my way in my Wal-Mart.... well I found only 1 at a Wal-mart that was 25 Miles from my house in Wilkes Barre, Pa.
When I walked into the aisle there was another lady standing in there with her hubby and I could tell they were looking for something but, I couldn't tell what. So I knew where the blocks were so I dart there and I don't see any... then I bend all the way over and go in up to my shoulders.... ( my arms are short).... I pull one of these bad boys out.
The woman sees me and says, " I guess we had the same idea" Her hubby comes over and he was saying something to her then she asked me if there were anymore in there and I told her NO and if there were I would be grabbing those to so she says, " I guess it's your you grabbed it first."
Did she really think that was going to guilt me into giving it to her....lol Not gonna happen, I had my heart set on these bad boys...
So, needless to say we ended up going to yet another Wal mart and I hit the jackpot there I was able to grab three more of them so I was okay for now.
I actually ended up leaving one of the four that they had in the Pittston, Pa store only becaue the dang thing had a chunk out of it and thankfully..... I didn't cut myself... I caught myself just as it was happening and I stopped.... the thought of it makes my stomach turn, just thinking about it.
So here's what we did. You'd think that that huge label would be something that would just pull off pretty easy. If your thinking that then your WRONG we ended up having to let them soak in the sink and then still had to use Goo Gone on them to take off the glue.
Here are the supplies that I used:
1. The glass block that measures 7" X 7" X 3"
2. I picked out some cute Christmas colored ribbons I got a whole mess of it because we used it on the wreathes and I use it on gifts but, here's one that I got specific for the glass blocks.
It's a really nice shade of Burgandy I don't know why that in this picture it looks red but, it's not it's burgandy and it have gold accents (now normally I go for silver and not gold but, I thought that this looked more Christmasy.
Here's the other ribbon that I used for the second block.... I think this one is perfect for Christmas.
3. Here are a few of the other items that I needed
It's just Ribbon, Florist wire and double sided tape (the good kind).
4. Then I need a small set of lights I wanted the ones that had the white wire in them and I really only needed a small set but, I couldn't find them to save myself....lol so I will get them this time next year. I hope (X fingers X) so for this project because I wanted to use them this year I'm using these.
5. The last thing I needed was something to add alittle bit of bling to it.
I am soooooooo excited and happy with how these turned out... I love what this looks like all lite up at night. I'd love to have a whole bunch of these under the Christmas Tree next year.
This is what the first one looks like just sitting on the floor... I know the picture is alittle bit dark but, I wanted to show you how it looked with the soft glow of the lights.
But here's how the block looks during the day.
This is how I have them set up on the table in our family room.
I have them grouped together because right now I have the set split in half... 30 in one of the blocks and about 28 in the other one and that's plenty because for me the whole strand of 60 looked like too much.
Now here's how they look lite up at night while we're watching TV I just love this look.
I am soooo pleased with these they are so pretty sitting on the end table. Thanks so very much for stopping on by today. I hope that you all have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season.
Keep being crafty!!!
